As a kid what did you want to be when you grew up? In pre-school my teacher went around the classroom asking every kid this question to write on a poster to hang on the wall for the parents to see at open house night. Most kids said something like “firefighter” or “veterinarian” or “doctor”. When she asked me, I said “Uhh I don’t know. I’m a just a kid. I don’t want to work. I want to have fun.” After insisting on an answer, anything at all… I still refused to answer. (I mean come on… what 4 year old actually knows what they want to do?) So she decided to write down “Independent Woman” next to my name. I was confused about what that meant at the time. Now looking back… I love it. It suits me. That’s exactly what I want to be in anything I do. What do you see yourself doing after your modeling career? I’ve always known I wanted to work in the fashion industry. The great thing about modeling is that it will open the door to so many different career opportunities with the experiences I will have and the connections and people I will meet throughout my career. I definitely want to explore other positions in the industry… maybe even behind the lens or behind the scenes. I’m completely fascinated by the business as a whole. I want to make a name for myself. I’m inspired by successful models who are more than just models – for example Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks, Miranda Kerr. They’re business women. Describe a favorite childhood memory: All of the countless family vacations. I am so fortunate to be able to travel to all the places I have been. From quick weekend road trips to exploring Europe… I’ve seen a pretty good chunk of the world for someone my age. It’s the best type of education I could receive.
